LWVMI - State

AUGUST 8TH NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION FOR VOTING RIGHTS

On August 8, 2026, LWVMI livestreamed the film Selma Sisters March On (formerly titled Three Marches, Two Sisters, One Bridge) along with a panel discussion led by Charles Thomas, Jr. (Detroit LWV member and LWVMI Board member) featuring his aunts, Alice Moore and Denise Jarnigan-Holt, both of whom are featured in the film. Local Leagues hosted watch parties with over 500 attendees live and upwards of 200 views on YouTube since! In addition, 17 local Leagues hosted tabling events, speakers, GOTV writing parties, and even a fundraising yard sale! Watch LWVMI program here.
